Antonio Fraguas “Forges” es hijo de madre catalana y padre gallego, el escritor y periodista Antonio Fraguas Saavedra. En 1956, a la edad de 14 años comienza a trabajar como técnico de telecine en Televisión Española. Abandonó la plantilla de TVE para dedicarse profesionalmente al humor gráfico. En 1970 comienza a colaborar en Diez Minutos y trabaja en las revistas de humor Hermano Lobo, Por Favor y El Jueves, así como en los semanario Sábado Gráfico, Interviú, Lecturas, etc.
