Obra que corresponde a la segunda etapa de la carrera de Ludwig van Beethoven, a un estilo de 'transición' en donde se observa un cambio de rumbo al considerar el clasicismo como agotado, tratando, para salir del modelo, de plasmar en la música una serie de emociones del ser humano. Se trata de una de sus obras más representativas, en donde prestó especial interés en retratar y enfatizar el heroísmo.

Esta representación se grabó en agosto de 2015 en el Salzburger Festspiele.

Escenografía y vestuario: Christian Schmidt.

Iluminación: Olaf Freese.

Diseño de vídeo: Andi A. Müller.

Director del coro: Ernst Raffelsberger.
