El 26 de Abril de 1986 el reactor Nº 4 de la central nuclear de chernobyl explotó por culpa de un fallo en el sistema eléctrico. Las autoridades del partido Comunista, enviaron liquidadores para retener la radioactividad que estaba saliendo del núcleo del reactor. Nikolai es el último de los supervivientes que lucharon por contener la radiación antes de sellarlo con hormigón. Astrid Johanson de la agencia Novosti quiere entrevistarse con el, para descubrir si lo ocurrido en el accidente se podia haber evitado. a lo largo de la entrevista, Astrid descubrirá que las ideas preconcebidas que tenia, no son del todo ciertas.
