La locomotora de vapor SHE 5, conservada en el museo cumple en este año su 125 aniversario. La SHE 5 fue construida en 1891 y forma parte de la primera serie de locomotoras de la Sociedad Hullera Española construidas por la empresa francesa Corpet a partir de 1884. Esta procedencia francesa es poco frecuente en las locomotoras mineras asturianas. Sus peculiaridades técnicas la hacen única, pues adopta un sistema de distribución del tipo Brown indirecto por balancín.
