El director español Alejandro Amenábar recupera la historia de Hipatia de Alejandría, matemática, astrónoma y filósofa de los siglos IV y V d. C. En un contexto histórico caracterizado por el afianzamiento del Cristianismo y las tensiones entre este y las ideas y valores de la cultura grecorromana precedente, Hipatia lucha apasionadamente en defensa del conocimiento de la naturaleza. La película, que obtuvo siete premios «Goya», será presentada por Eva Pelayo Sañudo.
