Amin, un refuxáu afganu, enfréntase a un dolorosu secretu que caltuvo ocultu per 20 años y qu'amenaza con esbaratar la vida que construyó pa él y el so futuru maríu. Acepta contar la historia personal cola condición de que nun se revele la so identidá y, pa llograr esi propósitu, el direutor decide emplegar un estilu d'animación que non sólo protexe al narrador, sinón que potencia la so historia, combinando'l tiempu y la memoria de forma intensa y poética.
