Entre el universo british abigarrado de clase obrera de Martin Parr, el kitchen sink drama de los sesenta y la crónica familiar extravagante/escatológica de Léolo, el fotógrafo Richard Billingham construye estas increíbles memorias de su infancia en las que el humor se cruza con una lograda atmósfera asfixiante y disfuncional. Así, cuenta la historia de sus padres, Ray y Liz, que viven de paguitas en casas en las que todo se ha ido de madre estrepitosamente, y de cómo le criaron a él y a su hermano entre negligencias tan rocambolescas que cuesta creer que hayan llegado a la edad adulta.
