Centru Niemeyer y Contemporánea presenten 'Not a retrospective', la primer gran esposición individual que hasta'l momentu se fixo de la fotógrafa Nadia Lee Cohen, aclamada pol públicu y la crítica internacional dende que con namái 22 años espunxera la so obra na National Portrait Gallery de Londres. Cohen (Reino Xuníu, 1990) ye una fotógrafa, cineasta y artista d'autorretratu inglesa que reside en Los Ángeles.

Ye ésta la ciudá que más-y inspira dende'l so primer viaxe a Estaos Xuníos nel 2014, y consecuencia del so gustu pola americana y el suburbiu, y la vida conformista neses zones residenciales. Ambientes que trensmiten la idea de la perfeición y, poro, afayadizos pa facer una pinchada direuta y quebrantala.

Nadia cuenta histories qu'asoceden tanto nel interior d'eses cases nes que los protagonistes femeninos combaten esi conformismu sofocante col escapismu sexual, como nos esteriores, onde los rótulos y lluminosos de les grandes marques de consumu que dominen les escenes xunto a chisgos al mundu pop alimenten les referencies culturales de la narración. A primera vista, les semeyes son llamatives, glamurosas y enllenes de colores saturaos, pero nuna inspeición más cercana detéutase un elemento señardosu.

Ye precisamente esta yustaposición la que-y interesa a Nadia y nos da la clave de gran parte del so trabayu.
